The website {WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED?!}Some of you were clearly sobbing over the website being down for the first time ever *Sarcasm* It's clear that we took down the website for a reason, and you think you know why, but ya don't. So the new website was going swimmingly... that is until I accidentally published the glitched out version! I freaked out! in all my panic I had to unpublish the whole website. It's been on and off since just testing etc. [EDIT] For those freaking out, The MC's look hasn't changed. The person you see on the banner is Angel, not Alice. Angel represents the player (with no set anything) while Alice is the blonde, blue eyed girl that we all know and love. Angel's appearance changes constantly. I revamped pages, but there's still work to be done. I hope you guys take a liking to it ;) No one wanted this- neither did I, but I think this needed to happen. We decided to change up Aris's artwork when we did it for Max and Ty, as we found the improvement was exceptional. We realized that Ari's eyes were misalligned and wonky and his head was gigantic for his body, his neck lacking proper detail (as the lines were off center), his chin too shallow and his hair sitting on top of his head at an unrealistic height for a head and his shading was beyond repair. Here is the new Teen Aris! He has a popstar edge and a devious look in his eyes! Ready for the kicker? Aris doesn't have any traditionals for this! Actually, he was 100% digitally drawn. What's even crazier? The base I used for him is the original artwork above! That's right! The outline was based on the above artwork! His outfit is a combo of several images I compiled, and his eyes were reworked after they were originally drawn. I like him a TON more comparing him to the original! Thanks to the help of the mysterious brother of my good friend Kaza, he persuaded me to keep the original outfit because he liked it better. I've never spoken to this brother, but Kaza sent me this: From this image From Tumblr: Which his brother had made since he liked the original outfit better XP It inspired me to then keep it as his adult outfit with some shading upgrades! WEEBLY IS BEING A JERK AND WON'T LET ME PLACE A HEADER. All Grown'd Down: Leo Draco Tsuki LemieuxTsuki Lemieux has a few surprises we won't reveal to you, but she's the beautiful young lady who appears in the teenage chapter. Unfortunately, Tsuki replaced Serenity as Seren added nothing to the game and seldom actually ws thought about. She was a carbon copy of Dako and wasn't very interesting. As a tribute, Tsuki has been given the middle name "Serenity". Cindy Brooke Woods -Fun SizedSweetheart Cindy has her head on straight! Her child/pre-teen head at least. Her summery personality can only be accented by her reflective hair and little cat mouth. This cutie-pie may seem sweet at first glance, but as time carries on, you will soon find that Cind can be quite the little spit-fire. She is rather scary when she's angry, and really emotional when she's sad. Overall, she's the mayor's daughter who has few friends, but still stays herself through it all. Fun little note that the 'necklace' Cindy wears is a plastic ring that Ty won in a toy machine. He gave it to her as a sign of their friendship-- that and Ty felt guilty for scaring Cindy earlier that day. What a pro. Does Cindy's sprite look familiar? NO? Well, Cindy's child sprite originated from a piece of art that has some significance in the game. I actually took this image, printed it out and used my light box to create this Cindy's sprite. Still give up? "WOAH" The reader thinks to themself, "What in the WORLD is that Alien?!?!?!" This sprite was the first ever face sprite drawn for Celestial Dance. It was drawn and adapted into several emotions. The most notable thing about this piece is that it was drawn entirely on a track pad. Look how far I've come ;) If you're wondering what exactly I used from this, it was the general proportions, but I just drew over it all and adapted it to my current style. I also used the colours from the dress, skin and hair for the colouring.Heck. Yuus. Sharing sentiments.I want to get a bit sentimental on you guys for a sec before I get to the announcement. It's focused at the artwork. When I began CD, I had gone to a couple week-long art lessons where I learned to draw my first human in an anime drawing class. Back then, I was a beyblade fan as always, and to me, the artwork was at an unachievable range. For me to draw an eye was an accomplishment. The first drawing I ever drew of a human was awful- at its best... but for my first time, I was so proud. But when I began CD, I knew that I couldn't do my characters justice. It was through the thoughts and encouragements from people like Kuroneko that I ended up trying for the first time. It began with Cindy. The artwork was drawn by hand before scanned in on a BW setting. What was worse? All of this was done by track pad. That's right. The little touch square on your laptop. I kept the original lines from the drawing I think, I didn't draw new ones, but the level of intensity- it took four hours total to finish this drawing. With edits and everything, Aris took me 3 hours- but that's because I was doing other things while I was drawing him, and also ended up making tons of mistakes and re-did many parts of him five-seven times. The first drawing took 4-5 hours without any fixes. Woah. I ended up going and there was a style that was born from it all. The features were usually beadie eyes, few details, horrible anatomy and bald spots by the ears. It was usually created by track-pad (or by freehand tablet) and sometimes just went on the scan's lines instead of doing line work. This went on for quite some time and got quite a library. After this phase, I slowly realized that I was super self-conscious of my style. Whenever I would see someone else's drawing, I would want to scrap all of the drawings and draw them again. It sounds dumb, but remember that I was like... Thirteen- fourteen. After a while, I got myself a tablet, and adapted a similar, but still sleeker style with more shading added and more details to the hair and outfits. It also contained cleaner lines and overall workable designs. Again, I had some issues with my style. It was partially due to Subeta- long story. It took hours just to line the art just due to the pen tool being an jerk. I took some time off... And the result was quite pleasing. The features then took off to be bust shots only, lots of hair, more details, better shading, more unique designs and more of a defined style. It became a mix of Brocon and beyblade, but still had some issues with anatomy, and often had the characters at a slight tilt with similar eyes, more liberal hair with a sleek eye style. And that began my new style Which is really close to what we're using today! (The closest.) So... Now that the sentiments are over- Wait. One more sentimental thing: It's insane how far I've come from the first drawing... Wherever I go- updateWhile I'm still writing "Wherever I go", I've clearly decided to keep the next few chapters to myself for a little while. This is so I can focus on finishing the meat of the game. I write it when I'm bored, but I think I won't work on polishing it until I finish a lot of the actual game (cuz that's important.) Mining [UPDATE]Ahahahaahahahahahahahahahahaha Omg I made the mining system so long ago. It was terribly awesome and actually shockingly functional! The thing with the mine was that it was pretty naively made. Basically, instead of checking if you had a pick axe to break the stone, there was another thing off in the corner that checked, then either set one switch (Mining) on to say you had it equiped or (stone bla) if it wasn't. Then it used those to decide if you can mine here or not. The funny thing was, that it just added so many more steps than I needed. I was just an ignorant kid. It still worked though which is funny. Aaaanywho. I had to go back and re-work the mining system because energy. So I went back and I re-worked the whole thing. Here's how it works. You enter here: When you go through the door, you end up on a lower level of the mine. The stone's locations are randomized and you can pick away at it. However, here's the catch. You get tired REALLY fast in the game. It's basically like any normal person going to mine. The reason for this is because you have an unlimited inventory and in theory could rake up more money that anyone else. Buuut Limitations: You can bring coffee which keeps you up and at 'em. You can bring as MUCH coffee as you want (unlimited inventory). That sounds amazing! Drink coffee, stay in the mines until 1am, profit, right? Clearly, I'm going to say 'wrong'. The way that the whole status system works is that you cannot consume in unlimited quantities. You could stay in the mine for a long period of time, but it'll cost you a lot of time just keeping yourself from collapsing. If you drink too much coffee while you're full, you'll get sick. If you're sick, your tiredness per hour will double, as will your tiredness for every time you play smashy smash with a rock. That means that if you're sick it only takes you a combo of 20 hours or 20 smashing of rocks to make you pass out. Keep in mind that some rocks don't give anything either. That means that you won't even be able to fully smash one floor without passing out. On top of this, you spend a lot of money on coffee and food to keep you awake, AND you pay an arm and a leg to refine your ores and STILL a lot of those ores will be worthless. The whole system is thought out to be a money maker, but will significant challenges. Can you afford 99 coffees to keep yourself alive until 1am (When you're automatically sent to bed)? And with that, the mining system is COMPLETE!!! ... again. We may be adding a couple unique floors but we're not sure. To make it fair, you can't mine until you're at least a teenager. You can own a pick axe, but you cannot equip it until you're at least a teen. Fun fact: To make the stones random, I needed to name them to tell them apart (You can label the events to tell them apart instead of event1 event2 etc), and it appears on the transfer event). All of the rocks are named after people from steven's universe (i.e. Opal, Connie, Pearl, Steven, Mr. Universe etc) Text updateI've decided to move all text up a line. I should have done this years ago, but I'm dumb. Basically, when I began making the games with the name plate system from the Advances message system, I didn't realize that the code you add in doesn't have to be at the beginning of the text. When you put it at the beginning and and text goes to another line, there is a weird gap in between. We just edited all the lines of dialogue in the game to have the lines at the top. It looks more natural, though it took a long time to do. We started also doing a bit more of a visual novel style to the text, adding lots of line breaks to make the sentence flow even when there aren't any voices. An example of before would be the picture above in the mining system. This is what we've made it into. Looks better? Good. Moving on. GARDENING [We changed this and it's better so thank you to the genius behind the gardening script omg you're a savior]This is becoming more and more like harvest moon everyday. Thanks to me playing MM the other day ;-; As some of you may remember, we had a gardening system that took place in the other town. NO LONGER. I got the amazing script for the gardening system that is thanks to the amazing minds of ForeverZer0 and Twb6543. It's not mine at all (The graphics most likely will be, but the system is ALL Their script.) BASICALLY, you plant seeds in designated locations (Which we're still deciding what that will look like, but we have a place holder atm.) And it grows in real-time. That means that in-game time doesn't influence it. If you go to bed early, it won't make it grow faster. It's super cool! It takes about 15 real minutes for some plants to grow. I tried to vary the times as much as I could. Some of the produce, you can get in-store, and some you can't, so it'll be quite fun. In general though, we haven't actually added in what will be harvested quite yet, but that's in the very near future and doesn't take long at all. List of stuffs we dun need and I put in da gamez n3 wei(List of things we don't need by I put in the game anyway)buh wii neded dem (but we needed them)
Celestial Dance on social media [Update]Here is everything you need to know about the CD websites and social media: Celestialdance.webs.com - Believe it or not, the website was up until a few days ago. Now it just redirects here <3 Celestial Dance facebook page: We actually don't want to update the FB page anymore. We'll likely leave it until the game is released and then start it back up again. It is only used for large things like the demo announcement etc. Twitter: We very rarely update twitter, but we sometimes tweet *Shrugs* not often. Tumblr: We're always on tumblr and we mainly blog about things we talk about on here or some activist stuff. Tumblr gets announcements first sometimes, but sometimes waaay late. It's a different mood than on here. Youtube: Youtube is the place to go to get the videos first. It'll be a lot of fluffiness and just small things to start but we'll get some important videos on there soon enough. We're updating youtube a lot more these days and it's our tertiary priority behind Tumblr and here. Celestialdance.weebly.com: That's here. Clearly this website is being updated constantly, and as you can tell by the banners and the artwork on the main page, the whole website is under construction while we prep for the demo! YAY. We're currently trying to bring in a larger audience for the game before the demo. In reality, it really won't take us long at all to make the demo in its entirety, but we're just trying to make sure no effort goes to waste. Instagram: Ehh We just got instagram, so no promises. You guys will get fair warning... maybe ;P Ahh well my biggest fear is that everyone will be bored ahaha but I'm keeping it bare-bones and without all of the content so that it's just an experience of the central, core game~! Don't worry! I'll keep you guys posted <3 Thank you again for your comments guys! They mean a ton to me and they made my day. Have an amazing day and I hope you all are doing well! CheyenneI'm a total dork who writes too much all the time because I like typing and I used to write novel-length stories and I'm just a weird person who does some things and breathes and stuff. Archives
