Celestial Dance: Shift the Tide Demo edition
The demo version will be released in the coming months. We have decided to finish at least the child chapter as well as the pre-teen chapter before releasing the demo. It will be lacking many of the final features such as events and romance (obviously) but will contain a taste of the game for real! The 'demo' is simply to help us get a feel for what you guys want in the game- it may contain some glitches or typos which our team will comb through. The release of the full game is still far away, but this needs to be done in order for us to know where we stand and where we need to go from here.
The demo is not really meant for getting a full gaming experience- but rather to help us poise ourselves to make the game better!
Total playable days:
7 days (Beginning of the game and through school)
- It will be completed in a separate game-file from the one being used for the full game. It ensures no leaks or anything will get out.
- There is a guideline for critique for the game. It will purposely be a bit bare-bones (Minimal) content wise for the demo- just to give you guys worst case for days and activities so you can tell us what you want added :)
The demo (after playtested by the team) will be given to special members of the community a few days before the early access members. They include people like Kuroneko, Sam, Rachel, Kaza, Whiona etc.
Early access is something people may register for. It's something of a 'pre-order'- but you won't be paying for anything :P Early access will be given a week before the demo's launch. How to register for early access will be explained below and it will be open to register until the demo is ready for beta testing.
This will become available on the website for download for anyone who wishes to try the demo. Regular download will become available a week after early accesses.
- You may mention where areas of the maps are glitchy or look too empty
- Point out typos/errors (Some grammatical errors may be on purpose.)
- Point out gitches/errors with the game
- Mention how to improve certain aspects of the game.
- Submit suggestions that you have to make the game more fun for you.
- Being generally mean or unhelpful in regards to Voice actors/artwork/writing/dialogue/features... anything.
- Suggestions to change/fix the artstyle (99% of the time, these are unhelpful. We have a section of the team that focuses on art and edits, and my art isn't meant to be 100% accurate proportionally, nor am I really an artist to begin with , so please leave the art for my team to critique)
- Unhelpful comments (I appreciate the 'good's but I would prefer to hear what you liked and what didn't work for you!)
So all around, please be a nice person and help the game move along. Remember that there are real people working on this game- and we all have feelings. But also remember that telling us that you 'liked it' when there was something you felt was missing isn't helping us either :)
Questions you may have:
Q: "When are you planning to finish the demo?"
A: "I can finish the demo tomorrow if I really wanted to. (Okay, maybe in a week, but that's besides the point.) But I want to finish the child chapter first. I plan to finish Ch. 1 by the end of August, and that's a very very likely goal if not the end of September. We wanted to announce this now so that people can register for early access."
Q: "How long after you finish the demo will you release it?"
A: "Ehh. If Amelia plays it once, she is so nitpicky that she will find even the smallest in continuity errors, forget about spelling and grammar errors. If she feels that it's not good enough, I'll add or re-do before special access. I will be releasing the demo to the special people listed after we are 100% sure it is good enough for the public.
Q: "Why are you releasing a demo NOW instead of waiting until you're closer to finishing the game?"
A: "Because I need people to tell me what they want to see, and it's easier to do if they've played through a bit the game. I'm stumped for content to make the game more fun."
Q: "IS THE GAME STILL FREE?!"
A: "Always and forever."
Q: "How many breaks and how many school days to we have to endure?"
A: "You begin on September 5th (Which is a Friday). You get the 5th, 6th and 7th without school then the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th of school and then the demo ends either when you go to bed on the 12th or 1am on the 13th."
Q: "Will you be doing special/early access for the full game too?"
Q: "Can anyone register for Early access?"
A: "Absolutely! But you do need to provide your email and name before the deadline (Which will be announced closer to the demo's completion) in the form. We obviously don't sell emails to anyone and all the information will be shown to the team only."
Q: "Wait... So this is ACTUAL gameplay?! It's not an empty space kicking a soccerball around?!"
A: "Yes. It's the real first seven days of the game. It won't include some features like fundraisers or the animated opening, but it will include all the bare basics!"
Q: "Will VAs be included?"
A: "As many as we can get in. We hope to have all the sub-NPCs voiced at least, but that's not a far off journey."
Q: "How much of the demo is completed?"
A: "There's not really a way to ultimately figure that out. We still have lots of artwork to do, voice acting to finish and of course dialogue. By the end of tonight, we hope to have at least school days 8-12 complete. Then it'll be a matter of the characters and their <3s, and the artwork/voice acting and some maps that we're still struggling with. Overall, we're pretty far."
Q: "How long until the full game is finished"
A: "That depends on a lot of factors like voice actors, my school and all that jazz. We MAY have a solution that you guys may like but it really depends ;P I'll have to test it out! In that solution, we would be releasing chapters separately, and you would be able to import your data from your old game once you've finished. I probably will just have everything in one file, because I like that better ahaha."
Q: "Why is early access something you sign up for? Most people just give out to certain people!"
A: "Because I know there are more of you than who I've spoken to. I want to give the quieter followers a chance to get it early too. :) I can see It makes a difference because after we close the sign up, we will be promoting the game more to help bring in more players. They will be getting it regular time."
Q: "Who's your favourite character this week?"
A: "I'll tell you it's not Max atm (But he'll be my fave again as soon as stuff happens.). It's probably between Ty and Aris right now. While Max is my bestie always and forever, I really REALLY Am angry with him right now ;-; sorry Maxie"
List of people with special access:
Note: If you're listed here, you will have to tell me if you want the demo sent to you. If you don't specify, we will assume you don't want it <3 We'll contact all special cases closer to the demo.
IF YOU ARE LISTED HERE YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR EARLY ACCESS. You just have to drop me a message.
NOTE 2: Voice actors with the exception of select ones will have to sign up for early access. Voice actors of the main guys and gals can have early access as well, but just need to ask (Though I suggest playing the full game since none of the main guys actually are VAing in this portion of the game.)
DISCLAIMER: Sam, Rachel and Kaza are all in email contact with me- not everyone named "Sam" "Rachel" and "Kaza" are included hehehe. Same goes with everyone else.
A blog post will be released on Wednesday with early-access sign-up instructions and agreement.
I'm a total dork who writes too much all the time because I like typing and I used to write novel-length stories and I'm just a weird person who does some things and breathes and stuff.
