Last night I was contemplating the idea of a mysterious component to Celestial Dance. In a lot of games, such as harvest moon tree of tranquility have a little mystery in it. Tree of Tranquility's 'mystery' was a fair upset to myself and to my friends. There was someone that was leaving gifts all over the town. It got me in suspense, and then it was a realization to myself that it was just something to get free items. I was fairly disappointed as well as Bella Goth's disappearance in the Sims 2. The entire reason they made the mystery was because they mistakingly deleted Bella while they were playing through the Goth family's story. They re-made her in Strangetown and claimed it was her with no memory. There was no involvment with anyone, though the original theory was that she was having an affair with her daughter's future boyfriend, and he was the one who caused her vanishing act, but no. She was abducted by aliens and sent to Strangetown with no memories. Congrats Maxis, you know how to ruin a good, spooky mystery.
So I was thinking if there could be a second side story to make it interesting, which ties in with the bells. It could be a murder, kidnapping, Vanishing person, thievery... Or something totally original. I think this would add depth to the game, and will make it all the more exciting. Tell us what you think and ACTUALLY COMMENT this time!

Here's a thought: a mystery about the origins of Nate and Tyrone's rivalry.

I also agree that it would be very easy to develop a mystery from the characters and their existing relationships (like Nate and Tyrone's) if you wanted. Certain characters, like the fortune teller Dusk, are repeatedly described as mysterious on the character page--and any character with an enigmatic background would be easy to build on for this purpose.

I'd very much like some sort of side story. It would add a sense of achievement and mystery for the players. (I approve of the Nate/Tyrone rivalry back story though ;)

CheyenneI'm a total dork who writes too much all the time because I like typing and I used to write novel-length stories and I'm just a weird person who does some things and breathes and stuff. Archives
